A challenge to all GHS band students!

I have started experimenting with a new cloud-based application called Chromatik. This application allows us to share written music, recordings, and comment on the music and performances. My challenge to band students is as follows...

  • Download this free app
  • Register yourself with Chromatic
  • Join the playlist I have set up (Band Exercise #1) using Join Code- K3L0M5NT
  • Record yourself playing any 4 scales from the exercise pages
  • Share your best take with me
As you begin sharing your scales with me, I will comment on your shared recording by letting you know in what order I have received it. If you have any questions or comments, please use the comment forum below the post.

The first 20 band students to submit a shared recording will win a special prize!!!*

*legal disclaimer- prize with 3 exclamations points should not be construed as a prize of any major significance, i.e. this will not make you independently wealthy

Graduation Information for Band Students

Graduation is fast approaching and the band is an integral part of the ceremony. Band students will be performing at the Hanover Theatre as part of the ceremony. Due to the space constraints of the theatre's pit, a number of students will not be able to perform as part of the ceremony. Great opportunity for Grafton music students and their families!

The Grafton Cultural Council awarded The Claflin Hill Symphony Orchestra a grant to fund free tickets to 24 students, faculty, administrators and/ or parents for our season finale on Saturday, April 27th at 7:30 p.m. (These tickets normally sell for $39 each.) The concert takes place at Milford Town Hall, 52 Main Street, Milford, MA.  The program that evening is titled Springtime Phoenix and will feature Beethoven's Symphony No. 6,The Pastorale and Stravinsky's The Rite of Spring- which is celebrating its 100th anniversary this year.

About Claflin Hill:  The Claflin Hill Symphony Orchestra gave its inaugural performance on May 7, 2000. Since that time, it has given full concert seasons performing the greatest works of classical music literature and striving to educate, engage and entertain the residents- young and young at heart- from this region.  As part of that mission, Claflin Hill focuses on young people in order to insure an audience for the future and to expose this population to live, professional concerts.

These tickets are first come, first serve. I would need a final count of those interested in these free tickets by Tuesday April 23rd. For those awarded tickets, they will be held at the door (box opens at 6:30pm).

Please take advantage of this wonderful opportunity!

A visit from the 7th grade band

The GHS band welcomed over 40 members of the 7th grade band to the high school today. We had the opportunity to play through some of their band music and get to know some of the kids from across the parking lot. Throughout the year we have welcomed the band students from GMS. They have been able to rehearse in our new band room and become a bit more familiar with what we hope will be their future home. With almost 100 students packed into our band room, it was great to see and hear how the future will look and sound for GHS music.
